Kate!

Kate!

Sean: Yo Kate!

Kate: Mrrrr mrrr mrrreowww, mrrr

Sean: You caught that new Bin Laden joint? My dude is out with a new video. He just dropped it. It's getting heavy rotation too!

Kate: Meow, mrrr mreow.

Sean: Yeah, he hit his beard up with Just For Men. I think for his next video he'll be rocking a fade with 2 or 3 cuts in his eyebrow. For real though, I like OBL. Not as much as I liked the ODB, but OBL actually stands for something. Unlike Bush. Bush is in Iraq, he's in Afghanistan, and it's all a stalemate just like Vietnam and Korea. Same shit, different wing of the White House. OBL barely lifts a finger and is probably rocking 72 virgins in a cave, humous. The new Bin Laden tape.

Kate:..... mrrreow.

Wednesday Chillin'

S2 in her favorite garden

What a morn. I hit the 63rd floor of the Empire State for an interview. The views in their classrooms are spectacular. Alas, my current employer is pushing me off and the folks to whom I'm being pushed are not interested.

But I was glad I made the trip. I'd hate to work on the 63rd floor anywhere. But the walk downtown after I'd get off would make it a little nicer. I meandered down 5th Avenue until I found a mom and pop paint store in the Flatiron District where I bought some compound from a delightful salesperson.

Next, I hit the 'Square'. Union Square, naturally. It's my favorite part of the city, as anyone who knows me knows. I practically go there every time I'm in Manhattan.

So a few blocks south of Union Square I found a deli that made me some french toast and I sat outside and ate it with some orange juice. It was comparable to sitting and having biscotti and caffé in a Roman piazza. It was as elegant as having cheese and red wine in a courtyard in the south of France. Refreshing. Delicious. Simple.

How easy is it, sometimes, to find pleasure in the most ridiculously simple shit?

Sean: S2, hungry?
S2: Meeooooooooooooow!
Sean: There, better?
S2: ...
Sean: My point exactly; contentment is only content when at its simplest I suppose.

Today I'm feeling:

pure irie

Ooh, here's a thought... everyone post one of their favorite simple pleasures in the comments section!

Commiseration

"Esther" on the level

Sean: Hey Esther!

Esther: ...

Sean: Why, why do I feel like this most of the time? People smile my way, and the vast majority of time, I can't even muster the smile in return. Other times, I want to let one out, but no one looks my way. What gives Esther? Am I expecting too much? What am I doing wrong? What should I change? What can I change?

Esther: ...

Sean: Yeah! Agreed. Uh hmmmm. Understood. Thanks Esther. Good advice. It is what it is, right? I mean, I can't make someone return a smile, say "thank you," say goodbye before clicking the phone on me, use a turn signal before switching lanes in front of me, etc. These are the things I can't change and should certainly care less about. No? Seriously. Why am I so absorbed in these minor battles? Aren't there bigger fish to fry? The breaded delicious kind, too!

Esther: Meow!

Sean: I hear you girl. You, you on the other hand know how to reciprocate a smile, even encourage one from others. You'd make her highness, the royal majesty's crown guard crack a fat smile and put their Cheshire grins to work! Thanks for chatting with m-

Esther: meeeeeeeoooooooow!

Sean: Yeah, well thanks for chatting with me, Esther, you're the best!

Today I'm feeling:

cool
